Workshop:

Beyond Blogging Basics

anne_marie-100.jpg
Presenter: Anne-Marie Nichols
Date: Saturday, August 23
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: Windsor Recreation Center
250 N. 11th Street, Windsor, CO

This hands-on workshop will give intermediate bloggers the chance to learn how to monetize and promote their blogs.

Bloggers will learn about:

·         Earning money via Adsense, ad networks, and affiliate programs. We’ll also touch on the ethics of sponsored posting.

·         Setting up an RSS feed using Feedburner and monetizing your feed.

·         Creating backlinks as a way to boost your Google Page Rank so your blog shows up higher in searches.

·         Increasing your blog’s traffic via social bookmarking sites like Digg and StumbleUpon. You’ll also learn how sites like Entrecard, MyBlogLog, and Twitter can help you network with other bloggers and promote your writing.

In class, we’ll work on placing code, widgets, and badges on your blog. We’ll also submit content to social book marking sites and vote on them as a group.

Requirements: You must have attended the Blogging Basics workshop and started a blog, or have an established blog (at least two months old with 2-3 posts per week). You’ll also be required to open accounts with free sites like Google Adsense and Amazon’s affiliate program two weeks before class begins. Since we’ll be working on our blogs during class, you’ll need to bring a laptop with a wireless card.
